The church is the sole ship and among the smallest in Norway. Eidsborg Stave Church is located just off the country's largest open-air museum (measured in area), the West Telemark Museum , and tours of the church are arranged from the museum. Legend : Many legends are associated with this church, and one of them is that it is built by the underground . (The underground are spirit beings who, according to Nordic belief, live underground or in nature as invisible creatures next to humans, often near farms and setters.)
