From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grip_stavkirke Grip Stave Church is a stave church from the second half of the 1400s, located on the island of Grip in Kristiansund municipality in Nordmøre . It is part of the Norwegian Church and belongs to the Outer North Morro Prostate in the Diocese of Møre . The church still retains its medieval core, but many parts of the building have been renewed. The ship and the choir have the same width, 6.5 meters. In 1621 the walls of the choir were replaced and these were painted. In the 1870s, new window openings were inserted, and exterior and interior walls were paneled and painted white. In 1933 an extensive restoration was undertaken. The church was raised and put on new foundations. The outer walls were covered and tarred, and the panel inside the church was uncovered. As the church stands today, one assumes that it has been in the 17th century. A medieval altar was also set up, which is probably made in the Netherlands . The motif of the altarpiece is the Virgin Mary flanked by Olav the Saint and St. Margrethe . St. Margrethe is regarded as one of the 14 relief workers who were called in for illness. There is also a picture of her in the Bergen Museumon the wings of a shrine. The wings came to the Bergen Museum from Hjørundfjord church in Sunnmøre in 1864.
