Towards the end of the nineteenth century the Lykling gold mines were at the centre of a gold rush that is unrivalled in Norwegian history. Hundreds of men were working in the mines in 1885, when activities peaked. Approximately 250 kilos of pure gold were found in total. The gold mines is a lovely area for walking.

Found this place while out driving to see an old church, didn't get to see inside the caves, so will have to come back.
