Steinkjerringa (the Stone Wife) or Mother Norway as it was originally called, is a sculpture in a scenic conservation area 3 km southwest of Synesvarden. The sculpture was hewn in 1898-99 by Sigurd Sørendsen, known under the artist name of S. Neandros. In 1925 Emelankton Aadnesen from Nærbø and the youth of Nærbø and Varhaug joined forces to purchase the sculpture. By 1927 it was erected in position at Aniksdalsheia.
