From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garmo_stavkirke Garmo Stave Church is a stave church that comes from Garmo in Lom , Oppland . It now stands at Maihaugen in Lillehammer . The first church at Garmo is to be built around 1021. Olav Haraldsson then went on a Christian journey through Gudbrandsdalen , and Torgeir Gamle received thanks for building a church on his garden fishing rights in the water Tesse by the king. Here, the king shows himself as a diplomat with bribes more than a person who forces people by force. The story is considered credible, since the surrender has been through legal documents, not through Snorre's accounts or the hagiography of Olav the Holy .
