As soon as we saw a viral photo of Scaliger Castle on Lake Garda in Italy, we knew we had to see it for ourselves and we did. It is just as magnificent as the photos reveal, if not more. The castle is known as the “Sinking Castle”, however, that is not the case. It is actually just a rare example of medieval port fortification. The reason why we love Scaliger Castle so much is that, in addition to its unique look of sinking into the lake, it has a true fairytale feeling to it. It has a drawbridge, a moat, beautiful architectural towers and stunning views from the top. Scaliger Castle is an amazing sight to see and explore while you are in Northern Italy.
