There was an active molybdenum mine at Gursli from 1915 to 1919. Molybdenum is a metallic element whose most important use is to strengthen and harden steel. The mine at Gursli was active to supply the need for this product during the First World War. Production started in October 1915 and a processing plant was built in Flekkefjord for treatment of the ore from Gursli. This was active from May 1916 until July 1917 when a large processing plant was opened at Gursli. In 1917 there were about 100 men working at Gursli; at peak times there were up to 160. After the war the price of molybdenum fell drastically and in October 1919 the mine was forced to close.

One and a half hour walk along marked trail from Gursli farms. Open after appointment, contact Lund municipality.
