From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lomen_stavkirke Lomen Stave Church is a stave church with raised center room located in the village of Lomen in Vestre Slidre municipality in Oppland . It is believed that the church was built in the second half of the 12th century . By means of date dating , the church dates to 1179 while the first written sources that mention the church appear in 1325 and 1334 . The church was later rebuilt and enlarged in 1779 . It went out of daily use in 1914 when the new Lomen church was completed about 2 km further north. Inside, the church is supported by four stakes, it has three carved portals, arcades and pillar chapters. An archaeological excavation was carried out during the last restoration of the church and 71 artefacts were found. Parts of jewelry and coins, among other things. Some of the coins date from the 12th century .
